SHAKEDOWN TRAVEL ANNOUNCEMENT
STANMER PARK IS A CAR FREE ZONE – A PARK AND RIDE SYSTEM WILL BE IN OPERATION AT BRIGHTON RACE COURSE
FALMER STATION IS UNAVAILABLE TO FESTIVAL TRAFFIC AFTER 8PM
AN EXTENSIVE BUS OPERATION WILL TRANSPORT PEOPLE FROM BRIGHTON TO STANMER PARK AND BACK AGAIN
We are encouraging people to use public transport, but we understand this is not always possible. If you are travelling by car, please try and car-share to keep carbon emissions down and ease traffic so that everyone can get in as quickly and safely as possible. There is a park and ride bus service running from Brighton Racecourse to the event and back on the day. This will cost £3 return per passenger in addition to the £10 per car parking fee, the park and ride will be well signposted on approach routes to Brighton, if in doubt follow signs to Brighton Racecourse.
On the day of Shakedown festival, September 17 2011 festival attendees are welcome to arrive at Falmer station but access to the station will not be granted to festival-goers leaving the event after 8pm due to the restrictive size of Falmer station and the low capacity of these trains. Those arriving by train will be welcome to use the shuttle buses back into Brighton (return fare applies). Three Bridges Station is also closed on 17th September. Trains will run through the station but not stop.
For those arriving at Brighton Station, we recommend you board the 25 bus from Churchill Square. This is the fastest, quickest and cheapest way to travel to and from Shakedown. The 25 and N25 bus routes will be available to transport people from Stanmer Park to Brighton station before and after the event. Brighton & Hove Buses will be significantly increasing the frequency of the number 25 route, which will drive into the park and drop passengers off right outside the event entrance. For this day only, the 25 will call at stops every 2 - 5 minutes. Other buses that run to the Stanmer Park area from Brighton are: 5B, 23, 28, 29A, 29C, 78, 84. For more information on buses visit www.buses.co.uk
Foot passengers, it is possible to arrive and leave Stanmer Park on foot and the entrance and exit will be stewarded , but please bear in mind it is a long walk at any time of the day or night.
Last trains towards London from Brighton station on Sept 17/18
23:02 Brighton (East Sussex) to Victoria
23:11 Brighton (East Sussex) to London Bridge
23:37 Brighton (East Sussex) to London Bridge
03:50 Brighton (East Sussex) to London Bridge
Brighton Marina car parks are closed to festival traffic, all persons attempting to park in these car parks will be questioned and their cars monitored – wheel clamping will be in operation.
